Best foot forward, chew on that
Chained, chained, chain of fools
LR-17396 - Well another week of overcast skies, cold winds and rain, certainly feel like a fool chained to a camera in the last few months waiting for a day when there there has been some decent light without something wet falling from the sky or lying on the ground !
Another from my drama (attempted) series, see companion shot below.
In the meantime have a listen to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin and Chain Of Fools
Happy Fence Friday Have a wonderfull weekend, rumour mill says there could be sun, so watch out for it, I'm pretty sure it will only be short lived!

doʇs snq Kerb side and a Zebra
LR-19443 - Been working on a little project near by and the only place to park is in the doʇs snq or bus stop between the hourly services that infrequently stop here.
The pavement is heightened so the leftside drop bus can those less able or with push chairs off. Strange world a few years back a nice friendly gentleman or strong lady would give the person a hand, perhaps a carry down/up or assist a wheelchair user, then we wonder what happen to the sense of community living are we really so politically correct that acts like a barrier such as the Berlin Wall where both sides watched a number of children drown rather than save them, in fear of being shot.

Lamp, Well I liked it
LR-18364 - Ryde Town Hall mark II entrance, Ryde Town hall has had a chequered history and this is the lamp between two Doric columns on the second town hall (the original is on the opposite side of the road). The current building was used by Medina Borough council as it's offices until both Medina and South Councils merged to become the Isle of Wight County council. Prior to this it was used (to the best of my knowledge by Ryde Borough council). The property has gone through a number of changes in use including a music venue more recently and known as 'The Venue' the acoustics are terrible, the crowd capacity is limited to under 500 and is on the first floor which involves you clambering up an un-reasonable amount of stairs to get there. The clock tower perch on top is on the wobble but apart from all that it does have a very ornate light outside, which probably over the years has seen many a dispute, girls crying and all that other stuff that goes on outside.
The first Town hall designed and built by James Wyatt, the second has a small list of contributors;
1831 Design/Construction: as Town Hall & market house
James Sanderson - Architect
1869 Alteration: designed larger hall
Francis Newman - Architect
1869 Alteration: clock tower and exterior modified
Thomas Dashwood - Architect
A priceless treasure handed down through the years is the solid silver trowel used to lay the foundation Stone of Ryde Town Hall and Market House. This was given to the East Medina Lodge no 175 by Brother G Rendall, PM PPSGW, on January 21, 1880. It has been loaned to Historic Ryde Society by the Lodge and is now on display in Ryde District Heritage Centre.
The trowel was used twice - to lay the Foundation Stone in 1830, and the Copestone in 1831

That was summer !
LR-17389 - Well we had summer did you enjoy it :) Here's one from the middle of winter March when there was a glimpse of sun for a few hours one day, ok so it was behind a cloud most of the time. Meant to be a bit of ARty drama, left the end of the railing post in as I sort of liked it.

Lot Less Bother
LR-19133 - Certainly bothered about the temperature, this guy had just finished his shift and then put some kit on to pedal home. I had got what I thought was the Hovercraft square on a very overcast and cold day, popped a couple of shots off and was not happy with the exposure, so reset and lifted the camera to find this guy in the frame. Not something you see everyday in front of a Hovercraft.
Hovertravel have been running a commercial public transport service for some 45 years, flying across the Solent in under ten minutes. As a personal note, the service here is second to none, you are treated like a paying customer, with hello's, thank you's and updated if there are any issues; other services are available but without good old customer service.
The concept of the Hovercraft designed by Sir Christopher Cockerell whilst at Saunders Roe (who designed and built the Flying boats), later he worked for Westland's, where the Hovercraft was developed commercially with C.H. Latimer-Needham famous for adding the skirt!

LR-19348 - Not so warm to day with a light frost, following yesterdays burning hot sun, certainly a bit like paradise following the grey skies, sleet, snow and rain of recent weeks.

Follower of Fashion ?
LR-19065 - Sadly it was a quick shot and didn't get all the upper body, but considering it was pretty darn cold, this guy was certainly not dressed for the weather. The dog on the other hand was window shopping in PDSA (People's Dispensary for Sick Animals), seemed to be a reluctant follower.

Caring for the elders
LR-19102 - Well I think it is the same in the UK as across the pond, for those who have reached a certain stage in their life and are unable to fend in their own home, having spend many years scrimping and saving, bringing up a family with the expectation the children will inherit the fruits of all those years of labouring. Only to discover that the home will be sweep away to pay for their long term care, no matter if you have paid your dues for National Insurance and taxes.

Experiment in Drama/Emotion
LR-17349 - Experimenting with drama using light and focus, just an idea to see what you think. Yes the weather has changed from a few lovely sunny days, so pulled this from a series of images that had gone into virtual nowhere land.
Does it pull you in, has it got some drama, is there any narration, does it say anything to you?

Reflections of another Bank Holiday weekend
Reflections of another Bank Holiday weekend, originally uploaded by Rusty Marvin (Open for Diamonds).
LR-18557 - The drops on the railings created by spray from the sea, at least we had a bit of sunshine, sadly a rather sharp wind blew and is still blowing which until you step out the door makes you really feel like spring is here.
Have a few shots around this puddle as it was right outside where we had lunch, so I will spread them out a little :) This one I really liked the whole concept of the multi framing and those really strong reflections.

Vintage Ploughing by Ford

Light Absorbers
LR-18414 - Ok nothing new to see apart from a few Calyptrae missing and the Sporophyte in the process of a new Zygote being created, does the of alternation of generations mean that spring is here or just another cycle is taking place :) Who knows
The reproductive life cycle of Moss aside, I received a new piece of equipment today, it has been on back order for nearly six months. Quite pleased with the results considering it only cost 4% of the lens I was looking at to do the job with !
Canon EOS 7D
Lens Model: EF-S15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
It is not a filter, so I'll let you work it out
Compared to images in comments.
The new tool is a set of Opteka Canon fit extension tubes which also facilitate all the lens controls AF, IS, USM so probably more control when out walking the dogs (I hope), test shots yesterday did highlight the need for light as the lens has a f3.5 minimum. Cost £57, lens to get similar results just a little under £1,500 to my knowledge.
Previous shots as in comments; from the set of Helios 42mm extension tubes, which requires a 42mm lens on the sharp end. Manual focus & f stop without IS or USM, (the 42mm stuff gets down to f2 more like f0.). Most of my shots in the last few months have been hand held so probably a 1:3 success rate on the macro stuff, hoping to improve the hit rate a little at least.

LR-18214 - Nearly symmetrical on the gable end oh well must try harder. Another shot from St Peter's in Havenstreet, I liked the stone work and the cloud patterns sort of matching and was attempting to something clever with the composition (didn't quite work) so here's the rough cut.
Happy Easter to everyone and hope you have a quality weekend, what ever you are doing. If it's not Easter in your domain then HaPpY Free as a Bird Friday.

The Betty Conspiracy aka Big Betty is Watching you
The Betty Conspiracy aka Big Betty is Watching you, originally uploaded by Rusty Marvin (Open for Diamonds).
LR-18358 - Conspiracy driven by seeing David Ike about 10 minutes before and based on the of interconnectiveness of things. I saw this as a clever disguise for a listening device, have spotted a few around and believe it to be used to supplement the CCTV used in the UK with some councils having one camera for ever sixty people who live in the area.
So Betty Boop a famous sex symbol animated cartoon character created by Max Fleischer, with help from animators including Grim Natwick. Her first appearance on August 9, 1930 and is classed as a symbol of the Depression era take note how depressed it was! Sadly The Production Code of 1934 imposed guidelines on the Motion Picture Industry can into effect on July 1. Forcing the artist to remove gold, jewellery and other sexual innuendos references in the drawings. Betty became a husbandless housewife or a career girl, who wore a fuller dress or skirt. Extracted from Wiki page.
But the good news is the song Minnie the Moocher was used when she ran away with her boyfriend Bimbo, have a listen to the better known version from the Blues Brothers or the original Cab Calloway origianl.
Whoops forgot the other reason for some Yellow

LR_8_15275_8_15276_8_1527_8_15278_2-2PS4 - Crazy Macro Panorama painted, four core images with a further 10 used to enhance (well I thought) bits without focus. After hand stitching all the parts the balance (38% approx) was hand painted. Two versions one out of CS6 Photoshop (this one) and one Aged in Lightroom 4.3.
