Skill Bill was confident that he would beat the four eggs

That's a Wrap (version 2) Fully Embraced!

P1410655 - Well I didn't think they would go on much longer and been on a different walk lately. But today the sun was shining and almost no breeze what so ever, just two frustrated dogs wanting to get on with their walk and this :)

Hey Bud! ............ light box!

P1420538 - Occasionally I might take a photograph of a leaf, just sometimes. Then some other times I like to present my work in a minimalist style. And sometimes the sun comes out from behind the clouds :)

Project Fern - Rusty Back Spores (II)

P1420593 - It's not the name, these little ferns are study and are great to shoot (when it's not windy and you can get some sun on them). Then they produce these spores (I believe that's their common name). This particular fronds or Fern is a little project on it'sown, bit the like the flower last week.

Quite pleased with this version II, managed to find some light and get some of the detail, but not probably the detailed shot I wanted. You can view the original size to understand my slight disappointment on the spore detail. It might be a job for the bellows to pick it out.

If you don't want to look that close, it's really nice in the light box

Remenants of the season as we unwind towards spring

P1420767 - As you know take a lot of leaves, they just seem to have some beauty to me, different light, different states through out the year.
Could not quite get the light without the inclusion of some other leaves in the top right, so a bit of post processing, a square crop. Slightly disappoint with the focus on the larger leaf, but that's me.

Holding On for Spring .... nicer on black

P1420787 - Had to do some avoidance tactics as a couple of dogs who Rusty doesn't get on to well with were coming along the path. As always you land up finding something different and interesting.
Just tickled me as I walked done the path and saw this leaf, with the new shoots in the background.

Ecko Lighting, that's a Fernament replacement

P1400576 - Been thinking about this for a while, with very little spare time. Took about 40 minutes to get the shot I wanted and it's still not perfect.
So this is the Fern/Frond that was snapped off some weeks ago and used in the strobist experiments www.flickr.com/photos/rustymarvin/6752087775/ 25-Jan.
The bulb had blown and been sitting on desk awaiting a replacement, the sun was playing around behind some cloud every now and then.
The shot is lit by sunlight bounced from the outside (make up mirror) the right hand light is from Jobiee-Light to take out some hot spots.

So it's a must for the light box

Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw

P1400699 - Had a walk out the back woods today (to many little people in the main woods) and this tree has been resting here for x years still in good order and noticed these two half's of a whole, placed on the moss. So I thought I would give it a go with the 300 mm and see if I could get the light right:)

Or you might want to pop into the light box or take a risk and press .........................................................'L'

Disney at there best (IMHO) go on you you know you want to listen and it's a full 7 minute extract

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life

Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn't be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin' in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few

The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That's why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life

Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don't need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
Have I given you a clue ?

The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!

So just try and relax, yeah cool it
Fall apart in my backyard
'Cause let me tell you something little britches
If you act like that bee acts, uh uh
You're working too hard

And don't spend your time lookin' around
For something you want that can't be found
When you find out you can live without it
And go along not thinkin' about it
I'll tell you something true

The bare necessities of life will come to you

Just love those words and the simplistic view on life and how true so many of them are

Small Tree or Big Bird - at piece in the evening (present for Stu and Bill)

P1400036 - Been watching this guy or girl and more recently a pair. This is not the normal tree (see below for a zoom out) it sits in. But driving back from the forest and saw him sat there, turned around, parked the car and managed to get this quickly before he/she went off to find dinner. Didn't get time to check the camera and discovered FStop 22 :( But liked the result

Being Digital the future is electric twigs - crop

P1390890 - Thought some of you might like this as I do, made me smile. It was an attempt to get a shot of some twigs with some really nice light as I walked past with the 300mm. Nope there is not even a good one to show you what I trying to get. And please don't ask for a repeat!
It reminds of some of the first attempts at A.I a few years back, but perhaps you might have had to have been there.

21. Education Center: a shallow depth of field (DoF) can be achieved either through the lens or via post-processing and is often used to emphasize the subject or a portion of the subject, leaving the remainder of the image blurred and out of focus. If you do not have the option of changing your f-stop to a lower number, use the macro setting on your camera.

So this is a narrow depth of field to me, but I can and often are wrong! Having read three different articles it could be shallow as the F stop was on 2, but another says narrow.

Below is another for HFF. Below that is what I think shallow depth of field is, I assumed and could be wrong it's a combination of narrow from the lens and the angle of the shot. But again terms seem to be all over the place depending on who you are and what you have looked up or read on different days. .

You guys decide happy to go with the decision either way!

That's a wrap then - version I - plain background - Just Embrace them .. light box is nice

P1390633 - So this little adventure started back in November (see below), almost a never ending story :)
These particular flowers are at the edge of the forest with a single tree line to protect them from the wind, also the tree line blocks out the sun. The days when the sunlight is available normally has either a slight breeze or it's quite windy. The days when there's no sun there is hardly any breeze. Then the other variable has been on the good days with a breeze /wind I haven't had the tripod.
So today overcast and miserable, with a hint of sun with tripod in the hope the sun might appear :) No it didn't, so Jobiee-Light came to the rescue.

Up the Pole

P1390537 - Spent some time looking around for something appealing, but the only that appealed to me was not the scaffolding but the remnants of the building that caught my eye.
Attempted a few things to try and make them stand out, but landed up focusing on the third pole in as the joints done nothing either

Tweaked - 300mm lens and light and me still not there. Reduced exposure -2, added a bit highlights and pushed the contrast +4

This is a Viners Splayd never mastered eating custard with them, but they are great and it is fun to watch visitors trying to get the hang of them.

The concept was to get a shallow Depth of Field (DoF), but had to stop at this angle as the items become unrecognisable. So the DoF is on the prongs/tines

On the lighter Side

Yes, I'll admit it, went ARty before you start on me, but the art is created by science :)
I preferred this one posted as I like in the light box, the other two look nice two, but had slightly harsher light reflections on the glass, probably should have gone for II below, but also the reflection of the foot makes it look out of focus or blurred.
