LR-16610 - The walled garden at Hinton Amper House and Gardens
I was going to spend ages merging two image or tidying the wrought iron work, but I liked the blur and the distance clarity of the tree, hope you do to :)

LR-18210 - Post Fence/Gate Friday, like you do, liked the idea of the post on the right, but spotted that eye watching me, the background well you have to have something.
Happy Fence Friday, everyone have a great weekend and hoping the weather is better where you are than it is here going to need some strong post to keep those fences in place.
Dedicated to all those who just want to do that simple little job after lunch on Friday and land up being there till nearly Saturday, because of sods law

Female Blackbird
LR-18006 - Continuing on from the other day we had some sunshine, one day only and the birds were having a ball in the garden with all the new food, whilst others sat on the fence and watched, this girl decided it was time for a bath in the top pond waterfall. 10 minutes of pure fun watching I can assure you. She was there that long went indoors changed the lens walk back out and she was still splishing and splashing around.

Optomax 300mm f/5.6 - lowest setting (which brings me back to the digital lens comment about f settings, ok another day).
Free hand - No AF, IS or USM on this one so quite pleased with the results at 30 foot away, 1/3 crop of the original
Maybe it's time to spend a lot of money on a lens to capture these moments:)

LR-16174 - Been a bit busy editing some photo's from a shot for Red Nose day in the UK, hence the lack of postings. Another one from a few weeks back when the weather was nice and the skies where filled with white fluffy stuff that didn't fall to the ground.

What's in the Water?
LR-16154 - Bit of sunshine from a couple of weeks back, the bright bit on the hat is sun :)
Today is a flask and blanket or duvet day, it's raining, windy and very grey, with spring just four days away.
The story quite complex here, and the image does not portray the whole story with the gentleman escorting two ladies and having afternoon tea, later a stroll along the promenade alternately holding or cuddling each of the woman at different times, so I'll have whatever he had! Perhaps it's the hat?

Happy Fence with an escape route !
LR-16614 - Don't fence me in. Happy Fence Friday, have a great weekend
Bit of fence ARt, last Saturday started out well as we crossed the Solent and then sort of went down hill weather wise from then on in :( Early mothers day treat from our son for his mummy was a British pub lunch, which seemed to, well it did in fact take most of the afternoon, so didn't get to the tea and cakes until the light started to fade:(
Right at the end of the day and the visit, quite pleased how this came considering the time of day, only got a few shots in, but sometimes that's how the canvas falls. Nice day out and a couple of reasonable photographs can't complain.

Lens: Tamron 28-70 1:35-4.5 42mm f3.5 - Quite pleased with this older lens, didn't seem to work out that well on DMC G1, but seems to turn out some nice stuff in low light and maintain the depth of colour. Of course no IS, USM or AF so it is all manual, but that's the fun of it for me :) The Helios 44-2 would have work, but no time to try it

LR-16547-PS - Well seems like ages ago, but it was only last weekend. The ARt of post processing, still work in progress but quite pleased with it so far, just needs the sky sorting out :)
Well we've had sun, rain, sleet, snow and sun in the last 7 days, Last Saturday started out well as we crossed the Solent and then sort of went down hill weather wise from then on in :( Early mothers day treat from our son for his mummy was a British pub lunch, which seemed to, well it did in fact take most of the afternoon, so didn't get to the tea and cakes until the light started to fade:(

Daisies & Tax's
LR-18201 - George Osborne (chancellor) conceded that he is not making "as much progress", halved the UK's growth forecasts for the year ahead to 0.6% in the budget. Having already performed an embarrassing U-turns on Cornish pasty and caravan taxes, he gives a 1p off a pint of beer and freezes further duty rises on fuel. Not sure who will be better off, probably not the larger percentage and the jury is still out.
Plenty of progress and growth in the graveyard at St Peter's in Havenstreet and with the on-set of spring and some magical sun light for a day.

Boing, on cue
LR-17986 - Bit like Maple & Me, been taking shots of this particular Daffodil from it's first appearance and for the last three weeks (might be a video later on, if there is time) waiting for it to bloom and blow it's trumpet to announce spring. It's been shot in the snow, rain, hail, sun and when overcast, but this morning right on cue, it is in full bloom and sunny, spring has arrived eventually for the moment any ways :)

LR-16865 - I did take a few shots when it snowed, on the east of the Island we had about 2 cm on the ground, on the south the apparent warm wind from the Med create some lovely drifts 3-6 foot in height. So here is a more more traditional shot for snow lovers everywhere.

Maple and Me - On white
LR-16771 - This leaf and me have had some fun over the last few weeks, probably over a 100 shots, it so far has turned out to beat me on every set up, concept and composition I have put it in, yet after all the swearing and cursing, re-shoots it still holds strong, even after being thrown in the snow :)
The leaf fell from Maple tree next door some months ago and it has been hanging around and waiting for its day of the Flickr fame shoot, trust me there have been many a day when it was nearly and extra in a hand cream advert :)
Even this Maple decided that it would move around having been carefully placed in the snow in the sunlight that was available.
So here is at least one of the maple leaf!

Liked this because of the light and the facial expression which seemed to be amazement that the world could be bright in March. Plus pleased with the ability to use some bright sun light for a change (one day only).

LR-16486 - Well I am trying my best not to think about the sudden drop in temperature, lack of sun, rain and the promise of snow in the next few hours. Taken yesterday morning (March 9th) whilst crossing the Solent, you would think I would be reasonable at these by the amount I take, but sadly still experimenting. A slight change in scenery from the English channel below into the Solent.

LR-16123-2 - Took a few shots this, so it's a bit of work in progress as I'm not sure which one works, this is the first one off the line :)
Might introduce a change of scenery tomorrow as all this sun can't be good for us surely, need some rain every now and then to keep the grass green. Forecast for snow starting tomorrow until Tuesday, so maybe some white stuff on the way to our tropical Island (well for one day).
Shot from Yaverland, over looking Culver cliff and the Yarborough Monument just visible and the English channel to the right.
The area former home of the White Air Festival, sadly now relocated to Brighton, but Yaverland apparently still a good place to learn kite surfing.
Walking holidays
The Coastal Path (just over 60 miles long) can be walked in four days at a leisurely pace. The coastline is varied from white chalk cliffs to quiet estuaries. Almost half of the coastline is designated "Heritage Coast", a definition applied only to coastlines of the highest quality and unspoilt nature.
Supplement by easy circular routes, and short town trails - there are over 500 miles of well maintained paths on an island that measures 23 by 15 miles

Scary Sandcastles
LR-16271 - Another from that sunny day at the start of the week. Here on our tropical Island people just love to build sandcastles (some in the sky, but mainly on the beaches). The chap duly arrived with his windbreak which he erected below the high water mark, got out the packed lunch, bucket, spade and numerous other items. Then walked off towards the incoming tide to find the best spot to build his assist the girl with her construction.
Ventnor delivers some fairly long surf and occasionally might catch you out, this guy was a long way from getting wet, but seemed fairly scared that his new construction might somehow get washed away, the wide angle makes the whole thing look closer, but the highest incoming was around 20 foot away.

One from some happy hours spent on Monday when it was sunny, still a bit of sharpness in the air, but in the right spot almost to hot, since this rain, mist and fog :( Trying to keep the sunshine spirit up in the hope it will return soon :)

20 years on, tall stories!
LR-16220_8_16221_8_16222-PS - The population moaned and groaned when Southern water requested planning permission for a waste water treatment plant in 1993 the same year the pier was demolished. A pier (one of three) had stood on the site since the 1860's citation. The development of area to the east of the pier has included a haven/harbour and associated fishery opposite the cascade. To me the whole area is a vast improvement opening the shore side for visitors and residents alike to enjoy. Pleased the Isle of Wight padding pool is staying currently, slightly disappointed the roller rink has gone, but not sure I could still roller skate any ways :)

Bring Me Sunshine !
LR-16257 - One for the Fifty shades of grey candid's set. Sat in the Met having a spot of lunch with Mrs R, had to wait forty minutes (which they did tell us) before our food would arrive. Happened to have the camera and my collection of 42mm's so had a good play with those whilst the sun was out. So counting down minutes before the food was to be delivered took some shots out the open door mainly for the railings (#TW4) and then a bonus arrived in the frame, bracing a slight breeze and to me looked like those words were coming out his mouth :)
