LR-12500 - Here it is the last shot before cleaning the lens. Get close and dirty, yep done that got to close and also got dirty as mud flew of this guy's ears whilst shaking his head.
Went to lunch with Mrs R and thought I would get a few shots of the pigs wallowing in the mud, probably 80 percent water in places. Much to her amusement I arrived back at the car, with me mubbling that the camera and lens had got mud on it that's not all she said whilst laughing her face off yep, on my face, down the coat, jumper and trousers :)

Pay As You Go, really eco!
LR-12435 - On the eve of the biggest Solar farm being announced on the Isle of Wight, some 10 mega watt output, I just had to post this from my walk today.
Here we are with the PV panels coming out our ears, coal mines reopening and the PM trying to under mine us financially with the EU announcement and the gas coming from Russia.
Perhaps some one really hoping that nature would speed up the process of trees to coal, coal to coke and then to gas, perhaps even hoping to recharge the card from the tree (next we'll have a floating pontoon across the Solent).
As a foot note it was found in Play Lane on the way to the common.

Where will you go when the party is over !
Where will you go when the party is over !, originally uploaded by Rusty Marvin (with Janus & the wolfs).
LR-12395 - Yep, it was a great night, first time we have been out for the New Year in a while, just recovered now. Have to say the four/five piece soul band was excellent (why 4/5 couple of guys on the bar one in the balcony area, there was certainly a drum kit some where and then a vocalist.
Not your normal tickets but arm bands allowing you to go in and out when every you wanted.
Oh yeah it was a Masquerade event to, so the white bands where the tickets, plus additional tickets for a free drink at the bar. The tickets also came as a formal invitation printed on 250 gm paper enclosed in an envelope of the same quality, with a gold label. We keep stuff as momentos of events when the camera is left at home.
However it does also give the ability to include a bit of Archie Bell and the Drells Where will you go when the parties over a non Philly version, this on the portrait label (unknown to me), I do have a 2012 remix which has a slightly faster tempo, but unable to find a version to share, bit of a MacFadene mix (very talented)

LR-11528 - Took this at the start of the month with the assignment in mind, but kept looking at it thinking there was some camera twist. Had a look around for other images and can confirm its not.
A shop front High Street in Rochester or is that Chatham, never worked out the difference, but suspect it nearer Rochester castle :)

Carisbrooke Castle
There has been a fortress at Carisbrooke since at least Saxon times, but the present castle was begun in about 1100, when the Isle of Wight was granted to the de Redvers family. They raised the great stone shell-keep on its towering mound, and after 1262 the formidable Countess Isabella de Redvers extensively rebuilt the whole stronghold. Following the addition of its double-towered 14th-century gatehouse, Carisbrooke experienced its only serious siege in 1377, beating off a French raiding force. After the Spanish Armada passed alarmingly close in 1588, threatening seizure of the Isle of Wight, Carisbrooke was updated as an artillery fortification by surrounding it with 'bastioned' outer earthworks, still impressively visible.
Most famous among Carisbrooke's extensive cast of past residents was King Charles I, imprisoned here in 1647-48 after his defeat in the English Civil War. At first comfortably accommodated in the Constable's Lodging, his plots to renew the war later made him a closely guarded captive: an attempt to escape was foiled only when he became wedged in the window bars.
Later History...
Much later, Princess Beatrice, Queen Victoria's youngest daughter and Governor of the Isle of Wight between 1896-1944, made Carisbrooke Castle her summer home after 1914. The Edwardian-style Princess Beatrice garden, designed by TV and radio gardening presenter Chris Beardshaw, was inspired by the princess, and includes a fountain and plantings in the rich colours of the royal arms.
