Working Togther - Different Races

LR-9458 - Well first a pair then a Red Admiral and a Bee working in Mother Natures harmony, living together
Has to to be a queue for some Timmy Thomas Why Can't we live togther

Tell me why, tell me why, tell me why.
Why can't we live together?
Tell me why, tell me why.
Why can't we live together?

Everybody wants to live together.
Why can't we be together?

No more war, no more war, no more war...
Just a little peace.
No more war, no more war.
All we want is some peace in this world.

Everybody wants to live together.
Why can't we be together?

No matter, no matter what colour.
You are still my brother.
I said no matter, no matter what colour.
You are still my brother.

Working Together - A Pair

LR-9465 - Arriving home for the weekend the garden had been filled with Red Admirals enjoying some September sun out in strength perhaps for the Bestival :)
An amazing treat at the end of a pretty heavy week of back to back meetings and advancing deadlines, you sometimes have to wonder why, then you are presented with this to give you an up lift.

Cropped and a bit of a tweak in Lightroom for your viewing pleasure

Quick Kent Tug Friday

LR-9174 - Barrier = Fence, one from a series of shots on a recent visit to some restored tugs in Kent, need to shuffle through as it was the end of a bad day. Cheered up by some really nice blokes inviting me on to their tugs to have a look around. Thanks Southern Eastern Tug Society.
To be honest a bit of a hard week and thanks to the friend of the lost Gibbs brother for making me smile on Wednesday; bit of help from the AA after some Cod and Chips and a refreshing pint, wandering around some nuclear power station that sounded like it was nearly time to stick your head and kiss ...... goodbye

Vent-noir, but not quite

LR-7870 - Taken a few weekends ago, but it appealed to me

Happy Fence Friday to all my contacts I am trying to get around and haven't had time to post much, been busy at work this week. Have a great weekend looks like we might have some sun for a couple of days.

Façade Dementia

Img_8583_lr - Saw this the other morning and thought I would just get a prod in about Dementia as it doesn't seem to get the billing that perhaps it should. Regular viewers will know that the last eight months or so has been littered with a whole raft of illness and issues, but how do you describe to someone what Dementia is, it is not a visual disease that makes the person look any different to what they where before, it is not something you would notice about some one wandering the street. In fact unless you knew the person you probably would not be aware of this disease.
We all joke about getting old and losing our marbles or forgetting something every now and then, looking for your glasses when they are on top of your head alongside all those other senior moments (C.R.A.F.T), but think about being like that 24 hours a day, not able to remember the name of simple things let alone the people close by you. Then at the same time, those around you not understanding what you are telling them, whilst slowly getting worse and not understanding the difference between night and day and why you cannot cut the lawn (which is a concrete patio) at 3 a.m.

Make of the image what you will, to me it presents a face that of a person that has not changed on the outside and a semi void where things are not quite connected as they should be. As the viewer feeling that the person has lost the wisdom, experience and knowledge put together over decades to then have it taken away from them. The deeper you go it takes you in to a child like face showing that in some cases the person reverts to requiring the care and attention that a young child would need to get through life, teaching and training the ways of world all over again in the hope that some of the lessons may stick some where.

The process is a slow one the diagnose to confirm is around six months, the prospects are that the number of people with Dementia will double in the next 20-30 years. It is a heart wrenching disease that is hard to understand as it effects people in different ways, but make yourself aware, attempt to understand the issues, discuss it with friends, because when it impacts you will not have time to, trust me you won't.

Thanks for all your comments, favs and views over the recent months it has been much appreciated and kept me smiling.

Happiness is like a ..........

IMG_8704_LR - “Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.” Nathaniel Hawthorne

There was a bit of sun down by the Medway and had been meaning to go and push a few buttons of this long grass. Then spotted this little chap who seemed to be soaking in the last rays of the day.
I liked the quote as it hit a home run !

Quite like the light here and the fact the butterfly is not in your face and the shot does not encroach on his moment as in your face.

Moon light and rustling

IMG_8251_LR - Taken Monday night, been thinking about on the 2 hour drive and sort of hoping the clouds would keep away.
I would love to say it is lit by the moonlight and not assisted by a street lamp some 800 yards away and by sweeping the field with a torch whilst cooking, but was tired and want to get the shot in

Morning...

Morning..., originally uploaded by Rusty Marvin (experimenting).

IMG_7995_LR - Ok so you've seen them before, but playing around with light on a very shallow DoF lens makes it more fun

Helios 44-2 now used on the Canon, with a 20mm converter and no addition tubing length, which sort of makes it a new lens again

Skill Bill returns from a his trip ...

LR-7964 - I wondered where Skill Bill had been, of course he went off to find summer. I caught him as the artificial sun set over the book case to the west. When I asked if he had found it, he responded sadly with a no, he thought he had a couple of days, but then went through a desert of a horse with no name. However he was well pleased with the new Shallot Mask he had made to protect his eyes from the dust and wind on the long trail.

Not my Fav chocolate shop, not that I eat a lot of it anyways, but thought whilst there I could get a Scavenger Challenge in :) We done Garlic a little while back and it's not that artistic have you every seen a garlic bulb paint, thought not. Godshill is full of little shops with various curio's in, horse shoes, the latest Don't panic, herbs, Cream Teas and a whole raft of natural goodness imported from another country (flown across the world, stop don't start me on that). Any ways the chocolate is probably from some where in the EU, but crafted in to various items including these lollipop things on a stick and the sign says it all.
