Firestone Copse (bit fed up with the Euroforest guys copping the other woods all down).

Firestone Copse 25 Hectares of the wood is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and also a Special Area for Conservation (cSAC) for Bechstein’s Bats. The remaining 73 hectares are designated as a Site Important for Nature Conservation (SINC). The whole wood lies within the IoW Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Also from pervious research had connections with Henry the VIII Oaks from here were used to built the fleet.

What Have I seen there, Heron (Grey), Kingfishers to name but a few. A while back it was said that a pair of Otters made a home here.

It's Autumn ............ (Nice in the light box)

Experiment - P1200162 - Fern Twist

P1200162 had a really 3/4 hours (does time matter) with the boys in the woods, wonderful day in so many ways, light, clear air and the fact I do not have to condense my weekends for a while.
Playing around with ferns and frond in various stages.
Decided to stick with the PaS Helios, but try a UV filter and a couple of different settings.
Since the TZ5 I have always used OSI (anti-shake technology) and when I started using the G1, I automatically turned it on when doing free hand.
Over the few weeks realised that in many case it adds a slight blur to the image and been attempting not to used it, the blur here is from the strong breeze moving the tips around.

Experiment - P1200656 - Triple Strobist Candle Lit Wood

P1200656 - Probably not the best, but after a couple of hours and going through the entire lens collection here it is. A lump of wood lit by three candles!

So why is it the one's you set up never live up to your expectations.

25) This month's Education Center topic is Simplicity. First, you must find a piece of old wood (driftwood, for example). Display it on a dark background with no other obvious visual background element. You may use some small accents (a flower, a stone, etc.) to create interest, but attempt to create a still life with the style and elegance seen in Japanese art.

Experiment - P1200584 - Strobist Dual Candle lit bottle

P1200584 - Just a bit of fun with two candles a mirror and a bottle, the impression was meant to portray a Edwardian/Victorian bottle in a similar light as it would have been seen in the day when the contents would have been used. Champion & Slee, Reg'd no 698987 Vinegar bottle.
Champion & Slee became part of British Vinegars Limited some when between in 1930's/1940's,
Not that impressed with the results as I expect a little more clarity in some ways, the bottle taken from the ground a few years ago and I attempted to clean it, but the soil has stained the interior as did the original contents I suspect.
Apparent they are meant to be straight, but it looks like something went slightly wrong with this one, must have been a Friday bottle. The bottles where made from two moulded halves.

Autumnal Sun and Leaf (and a mini leaf)

P1180433 - Cropped from the original, to much noise on the left on the original shot, slight focus/light issue along the bottom edge, but otherwise I liked it. Shallow DoF with the Helios at close range doesn't give you much to play with :)

My Cathedral residents

P1730166 - Been on Flickr for a year today and feel very privileged to have so many many friends.
Yesterday was a great day, birds sat in front of me, plenty of things captured under the surface and then Mrs R spotted this.
