Red Jet in B&W just because

Via Flickr:
P1370493 - Daily Shoot : Make a photograph of something in motion. Use blur to help convey the motion you are capturing.

SOOC B&W

This is the RedJet Fast catamaran service between West Cowes and Southampton (25-30 minutes crossing - car ferry ferry same route one hour). The company used to have hydrofoils which took around the same time to do the crossing. White decking, red hull just in case you don't know the subject matter :)

The Solent and Wall

P1370992 - Slightly straightened (sea was out by 2 degrees).
Daily Shoot: Make a photograph today that uses layers as a compositional tool.

Not sure if this works for the assignment it has seven layers (I think). The idea was to highlight the wall and the building, away from the hedge in the foreground and the sea and hills in the distance. Bit of haze today and a P&S so the hills which have three layers normal don't standout as much as I would have liked.

Please feel free to comment wrong or right

Home is where the heart is.....

P1360645_P130874 - Here's my helper's. Rusty at home in the Garden catching the ray's, Zeke with a stick he has managed to keep for 11 months (great throwing stick), in a field.

Two birds one stone; I have so many pictures of Rusty's back end as he has turn around and a rare shot of him front on. Plus a clean, a not wet Zeke.
No matter where I've been, how long or my mood, these guy's are here to greet me with a happiness and glee, make a fuss of me as I do of them. The same is said of when we go walking

Daily shoot: What reminds you of home? Make a photograph of it today.

Spring has Sprung

P1360095 - Daily shoot: Make a photograph that incorporates a circle. Well its a spiral and if you looked at it sqaure on it would be a circle :)

A front spring from a abandoned GPO (Royal Mail) Morris Minor van some 1.5 miles from any road. Currently converted by Rabbit's as a warren (well has been for many years)

Castles in the Sky - well nearly

P1340956 - You just cannot imagine, how much I wanted a ladder, there are numerous sets of these above the old passenger department rooms. What a Dof that would have made, so like me your'll just have to put up with the triple. Are they not just beautiful :)
Barley twist, Diamond and interlaced hexagons....nearly in paradise

To kill two birds with one stone (sorry about the related pun) the Daily Shoot assignment is: Convey warmth in a photograph today.

I reckon that covers it sun, chimney's from a fireplace

Leaning on a lampost - Egg version

P1330119 - Daily Shoot

George Formby www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3VDn5VlvBk

I’m leaning on a lamp, maybe you think I look a tramp,

Or you may think I’m hanging round to steal a car.

But no, I’m not a crook, and if you think that’s what I look,

I’ll tell you why I’m here and what my motives are.
I’m leaning on a lamppost at the corner of the street

In case a certain little lady comes by,

Oh me, oh my, I hope the little lady comes by.

I don’t know if she’ll get away, she doesn’t always get away,

But anyhow I know that she’ll try,

Oh me, oh my,I hope that little lady comes by.
There’s no other girl I would wait for,

But this one I’d break any date for,

I won’t have to ask what she’s late for.

She wouldn’t leave me flat, she’s not a girl like that.

Oh she’s absolutely wonderful and marvelous and beautiful

And anyone can understand why,

I’m leaning on a lamppost at the corner of the street,

In case a certain little lady passes by.

George Formby the Ukulele player that entertained thousands. Take my hat off to him a sort of Norman Wisdom in musical halls. That's not to be little Norman Wisdom, who you can only but laugh another great entertaining else where

Sorry a choice of two again, just in case you do not like the other one

Singing in the Rain - eggpilogy

Singing in the Rain - eggpilogy.

P1330130 - Daily shot

Gene Kelly www.youtube.com/watch?v=WttNlbaECDY

Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo...

I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feelin'
I'm happy again
I'm laughing at clouds
So dark up above
The sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love
Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from the place
Come on with the rain
I've a smile on my face
I walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
Just singin',
Singin' in the rain

Dancin' in the rain
Dee-ah dee-ah dee-ah
Dee-ah dee-ah dee-ah
I'm happy again!
I'm singin' and dancin' in the rain!

I'm dancin' and singin' in the rain...
[ADDITIONAL VERSE]
Why am I smiling
And why do I sing?
Why does September
Seem sunny as spring?
Why do I get up
Each morning and start?
Happy and head up
With joy in my heart
Why is each new task
A trifle to do?
Because I am living
A life full of you.

Probably my most loved film scene Gene Kelly in this scene, but you cannot top Fred Astaire on the dance front!

Enjoy, this just makes me smile, no matter the weather or the mood

Sorry a choice of two again, just in case you do not like the other one

Point me to the water

P1320244 - slight crop - to much brambles
First walk after a few days of being trapped in doors, it was one of those walks were everything was at peace; ducks scampering off, birds singing gently not to disturb the tranquillity, the water plentiful but still.

Here's to those special days

Sorry there's two and I limited myself at that, may not be perfect and a cliché scene, but do I care!

Daily Shoot: #ds479 Make a photograph that features water in one way or another today.

Smile, Action click

P1310375 - Today's assignment : Make a photograph of a smile today.

This is the nutcase that done my lovely cards 'The Eye's have it...'.
Not revenge but we could not get the light right or me cleciking at the right moment, so a bit of improvisation was called for :)
Think it suits her, reminds me of when she done ballet and dance and continually had a smile on her face along with the rest of the crew/troop of dancers, like the smile was glued on!

Contrasting chocolates

P1310308 - Make a low contrast photo today. Concentrate on other cues—such as line and texture—to create your photograph.

Yes, I'll admit it I don't know if it is right or wrong for the assignment. Is it in fact a high key?

So reading a few things, one explanation was given using a bride and groom (white and dark) hence the white and dark subjects here.

Please tell me if I am right or wrong with this one

I did use this as a reference en.mimi.hu/photography/low_contrast.html

Council trial new street lamps in an attempt to save money

P1300767 - Recent budget cuts have led the local council to finding alternatives on services provided.
Our roving reporter has saw a number of these 30-40 foot snow drops previous and was unsure what they were to be used for.
A council spokesperson said they were still testing the usefulness of these street lamps, but said they felt the dual purpose of carbon absorption and oxygen production with the gas lamp shades seem to fit into the environment and recent directives from Brussels.
Following up on the Brussels connection we had no comment from the Brussels representative when we met him on the local allotment .
Image taking on the street lamp test site.

The Spring Knight

P1300407 - So it's one of those what do you think it looks like jobs. Me I am going with the romantic notion that it is a knight on horseback defending spring against winter (mainly because I like the idea).
You can go with whatever you wish, I have seen a man with a top in there dancing with a lady with half hat. Also Donald Duck holding a baby.

It's dried grass just in case you were wondering. About 8 foot away (2metres approx), free hand shot. It was in the middle of a bog, so no chance of getting any nearer.

I just love it.

I do the daily shoot as I find it useful to understand different subject matters that I probably would not attempt otherwise. Today's assignment : What kind of other art do you appreciate? Make a photograph that celebrates it today.

I have seen just about every kind of art man or woman has churned out of the years, from Cave art up to modern digital art, laser light art and so on. Thought about it for a while and looked around the house to find something that would tick that box.

Then took the dogs out for a walk, thought about it some more and concluded that actually there is one one kind of art that I totally appreciate in another form and it has to be Mother Nature. As fate would have it the dogs and I had to find a new route due to a road closure and there this stood about three foot off the ground.
